DESIGN INFO '2000

Thanks for your interest in Kechele Surfboards! You have made the first step in the right direction whether you are a soul surfer, a snap happy youngster, or the average Joe recreational surfer. I build surfboards to accommodate the one thing that we all have in common - love surfing and to enjoy what we ride. In my fourteen years in shaping and building surfboards, I find myself deeply involved and open minded concentrating on the technical aspects and subtleties of what will allow each design to work at its most optimum peak performance.

In the mid and late 70's, I rode single fins (they were the happening thing)! In tbe early 80's, twin fins came back (the start of the performance era). Now, the tri fin has proven to be the mainstay. These three eras have been a tremendous learning curve in understanding what and why different surfboard designs react in different ways and in different conditions. I feel very fortunate in having the first hand knowledge to test and learn. Now it's simply refining and combining old ideas into new ones! The various surfboard designs that I am offering in my '2000 lineup are totally refined through personal testing and team feedback from both the east coast and west coast.

MODERN SQUASH - STUB FISH - MIX FISH -
THE SQUISH - DOUBLEFLYER MIX FISH - PUGS

This year's MODERH SQUASH SHORTBOARD has a little bit more width, and curve off the tailblock, and a slightly lowered tail rocker. This allows for a smoother turning transition, and added down the line projection. AII performance boards have machined bottom rockers (World Champion bottom contour) on every board. The rocker machine I developed in '93 has proven to be the biggest contribution in fine tuning my designs simply because every bottom is milled from a contour track cloning every boord with the optimum bottom. This also makes for a truer more perfect board. All bottoms for '00 feature - Concave X3. This gives necessary tail lift and added speed to carry across flat spots and dead sections in sloppy surf. THE SQUISH is a brand new design that has the influence of a standard squash and a fish, more foam, more tail, more width, lower rocker with vee running off the tail block, Recommended length same as the rider's height or two inches above. THE SQUISH allows for more turns per wave. I'm getting really qood feedback off this design. Recommended fin set ups FCS FIN CONTROL SYSTEMS.

The STUB FISH and MIX FISH are both proven small wave destroyers. These boards are the answer for small wave surfing. My team riders have dominated and won many pro contests with these designs. The lateet win came to me as a surprise when I won the Jacksonville Ocean and Earth Pro Event on a 5'7" Stub Fish which I had made for Ryan Simmons. Ryan Simmons won the E.C.S.C. in Virginia Beach on a mix fish design. These modern day fish designs allow you to get major speed with minimal effort due to the fat tail and Concave X3 leading off the tail. Tbe swallow tail gives deeper wave penetration with every turn allowing you to build on your speed, and to do more maneuvers. In small waves, speed generation is everything. I'm currently doing these with sting wings (optional). These boards are shaped thick for easy paddling, and are also an easy transition from your regular performance board. Recommended length to match the riders height or two inches above. Recommended fin set ups - FCS FIN CONTROL SYSTEMS.

The PUG PERFORMER, a modern performance hybrid series fun board, is the ultimate fun machine! Great for summer; great for the average surfer. Very easy paddling and riding, yet very maneuverable. Usually shaped witb fuller rails, comes with squash, round pin or fish tails. I get excellent feedback from many happy customers who have picked up on these perfermance fun boards. Pugs usually run from 6'10" on up to 8'2".

The PERFORMANCE LONGBOARD features a modern performance rocker for maneuverability, a concave nose for lift allows for easy noseriding, triple stringers optional for added strength and a classic look. 0ther options include tailblocks, nose blocks, stabilizer fins. FCS FIN SYSTEMS available.
